Hidden inside Grand Central Terminal is a place where whispers travel farther than expected.

The Whispering Gallery was built in a way that allows quiet words spoken into one corner to be heard clearly across the archway in another.

This chapter is about trust.
About vulnerability.
About the things we usually say too quietly — or not at all.

In a city this loud, this challenge asks your team to slow down long enough to truly hear one another.

Whispering Gallery near the Oyster Bar

89 E 42nd Street, New York, NY 10017

Instructions

Split your team into pairs.

Standing in opposite corners of the Whispering Gallery, one person must whisper the answer to the following prompt:

“Something I don’t say enough out loud is…”

The other person must listen silently.

Switch roles and repeat.

Film:

  • the setup

  • reactions

  • reflections afterward

The actual whisper itself may remain private if your team chooses.

This challenge is about trust, not performance.

Bonus Challenge

After completing the whisper challenge, your team must choose ONE sentence worth carrying forward through the rest of the race.

Examples:

  • a reminder

  • a truth

  • encouragement

  • a realization

  • something unexpectedly meaningful

Write it down somewhere visible and take a team photo with it.
